oh noes!I’m at a point in the Why It Matters story that I’ve been waiting to get to for a very long time. This story arc has been hanging out there for months, and every time I thought about it my next thought was “I can’t wait for Laura B. to read this.”

She never will, because on December 26, 2013 one of my best friends I’ll never meet passed away. Even though she was just comments on a screen, I miss her dearly.

I think Laura would’ve enjoyed the story that’s starting to unfold here on Mondays, and I hope she’d enjoy having a “Deep Cuts” dedicated to her. I’m not going to include any commentary with these cuts, because honestly writing this intro made me weepy and I don’t think I can handle much more. I miss you, Laura B.

“Tell Laura I Love Her,” Ray Palmer

“Girl Talk/Birds In Hell/Laura Palmer’s Theme/Falling,” Angelo Badalementi

“Laura,” Scissor Sisters

“Lara’s Theme,” Maurice Jarre

“Laura,” Charlie Parker

“Laura’s Song,” Charlie Rayne

“Think of Laura,” Christopher Cross. I like to think that Laura B. would laugh at me closing out this “Deep Cuts” with a fat hunk of easy listening cheese. On the other hand, she may have really liked it. She always surprised me with her diverse tastes.

It doesn’t fit the theme, but Icky Thump by The White Stripes always reminds me of her. She was the one who turned me onto that group. Thanks for sharing this.
