Man, we love to be right, don’t we?

I’m no slouch in this department, either. Being right feels good, even for a lefty.

But you know, more often than not we’re probably not right because most of the junk we argue about isn’t a matter of right and wrong. Sure, there are the quantifiable questions–two plus two equals three–but often we insist that we’re right about the qualifiable stuff: This is good and that is bad; this is better than that, yada yada yada.

Anyway, songs to be right to:

“Ain’t No Right,” Jane’s Addiction.

“Dog Gone Right,” Lee Rocker.

“I Guess You’re Right,” The Posies.

“My Life Is Right,” Big Star.

“Night Time Is the Right Time,” Big Joe Turner.

“Not Half Right,” Heatmiser.

“Right and Wrong,” Joe Jackson.

“Whatever’s Right,” The Monkees.

So there you go — eight songs to be right to. Did I miss any? You’ve got a bloody right to say, and I’m listening.
