Why It Matters

Sometimes an album is worth buying just because of its condition. Don’t get me wrong: Beatles ’65 is an outstanding record, and it’s one I’ve been spinning since I was a preschooler. And that’s the problem with a lot of original Beatles vinyl: It was beaten to death by kids like me who used their jelly-stained fingers to slap it onto Mickey Mouse turntables.

So when I saw this super clean, mono copy of Beatles ’65 in the bins of my local record store, there was no question whether it was coming home with me. Sure, the copy you see here has some dollar value, but more importantly it has survived over 50 years in great condition and now that it’s safe in my stacks I know that it will remain that way for a few decades more.
