Words are the currency of pretty much everything we do. Even our currency has words on it, for crying out loud.
Yes, and we waste words almost as often as we waste money. Sometimes that’s a function of choosing the wrong word, others by using too many or too few.
We’re all guilty of it, except instrumentalists maybe. Those guys let their music do the talking.
Anyway, word songs:
“Friend Is A Four Letter Word,” Cake.
“All My Little Words,” The Magnetic Fields.
“Man of Golden Words,” Mother Love Bone.
“Every Word Means No,” Let’s Active.
“Lonely Is the Word,” Black Sabbath.
“No Words No More,” Love and Rockets.
“Missing Words,” The Selector.
“Someone Took the Words Away,” Elvis Costello.
There you have it: Eight songs about words when no one listens anymore. What did I miss? I’m listening.
