So I’m bumping around the intergooglewebtubes a couple of nights ago and I stumble on this cool San Diego band named Chocolate Revolution. With a name like that I had to check them out: did they sound like The Strawberry Alarm Clock? The 1910 Fruitgum Company? Moby Grape? Chocolate Milk?
On their label’s website I found a tasty cut named “Knock On My Door.” It’s based on the same blues riff that the Voidoids used in “The Blank Generation” and the Stray Cats used in “Stray Cat Strut,” but funkier, more soul.
Anyway, while I try to hunt down more information about them and more material to review, I wanted to give you Southern California readers a head’s up that Chocolate Revolution along with label mates Lucky Lucifer are having a release party on Sunday, March 31. Free admission, good music, cheap beer — what else do you want?
