My love for all things P-Funk knows no boundaries. The Brides of Funkenstein were former backup singers promoted to the front line for a couple of late seventies albums. Funk or Walk was their debut LP, and single “Disco to Go” went gold:
If all disco was that funky I’d still be wearing Angel Flights. Lead bride Dawn Silva is still out there. You can follow her on Twitter: @DivasofFunk.
I love that cover, too. It’s attributed to “In Search of the Miraculous, Inc.,” but it obviously owes a huge debt to Ernie Barnes, creator of the classic “Sugar Shack” painting that served as the main title cards for Good Times.
P-Funk collective albums are always hot, but this one is a reasonable buy at ten bucks. Happy hunting.
