My heroes are gone. Zappa, Bukowski, Vonnegut, Miller, Fante, and now Bowie. This is all going to take a bit of time to process. Bowie’s music has been a part of my personal soundtrack since I was a little boy, but he was more than that. He was a conduit to worlds I may never have discovered: Eno, Burroughs, Brecht, on and on.
One thousand words on his discography for Diffuser doesn’t even begin to capture his enormous impact, but it’s a place to start the processing I suppose. Such a tremendous loss.

I preordered his Blackstar album. It arrived and I put it aside for the perfect time to absorb it. It sits there now, still in the carton unopened. Too sad to open it right now. I listened to Young Americans thus morning in tribute. RIP David.

All my heroes have gone on. We are the lucky ones to have loved them all. David Bowie is genius.
