Oh, Smiths, how I do love you.
They were a band who left a tremendous legacy, which is all the more remarkable given their sparse output. The Smiths only released four studio albums during their short tenure, and only one official live album. Of the 10 Smiths compilations that have been released, only Hatful of Hollow is absolutely essential.
So what’s a fan to do? Once we own those 5 to 15 official releases it’s time to hit the bootlegs, and there are quite a few good ones in Smiths land. Here are a few from my stacks, but there are plenty more floating around. Happy hunting.
