Wolves make for good music, and why not?
They’re beautiful, wild, and predatory, and yet at the same time they’re familiar. Wolves look more like their domesticated brethren than cats do, after all. No wonder we’re fascinated by them.
Wolves make for great cliches, too. She’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s a lone wolf. They’re just crying wolf. Werewolf! There wolf! There castle!
There’s a lot there for a lyricist to work with, so maybe I should stop howling and get to the songs:
