Why It Matters

Here’s one of the all-time great punk rock bootlegs.

The Sex Pistols File bootlegs (or “re-releases”) four previously released bootlegs in a single, four record box set. Disc one is comprised of the A&M studio tracks while the other three albums contain live shows, including their legendary last show in San Francisco.

You’ll notice the words “limited edition 250 sets only” printed in the lower right hand corner of the box cover. In the words of Johnny Rotten at that last, legendary show, “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” Bootleggers aren’t known for their honesty, and this set isn’t too hard to find. If only 250 were floating around, you can bet I never would’ve got my hands on one.

While it may be common, The Sex Pistols File is still a little pricey. Expect to pay around $75, give or take 25 bucks. Happy hunting.
