Deep Cuts: Drunk Songs

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, but it’s not a bad recipe for a weekend. Actually, it kind of is. One of the great tragedies of growing up is realizing that Animal House’s Dean Wormer was actually right about a few things and that the actor who played Bluto partied himself into an early grave.

But that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy a good drink, or for that matter a good drinking song. Here’s a few–songs I mean, not drinks–from my personal playlist:

“Drunk In My Past,” X.

“Kneeling Drunkard’s Plea,” Johnny Cash.

“Drunk Daddy,” Cherry Poppin’ Daddies.

“Drunk on the Moon,” Tom Waits.

“I Gotta Get Drunk,” Phosphorescent.

“Drunk Sincerity,” Bad Religion.

“Drunkship of Lanterns,” The Mars Volta.

“Drunken Maria,” Monks.

There you have it–eight songs you can enjoy even if you don’t drink, don’t smoke, but what do you do? I’m listening.
