From the Stacks: Fear: The Handbill

Have you ever reached into the pocket of an old coat and found a piece of garbage that has matured into a treasure?

Fear: The Record is one of the greatest punk albums to come out of the first wave of L.A. punk.  Those guys were beasts, but they were funny, too.  I still throw on “Beef Baloney” and “Fuck Christmas” when I’m in a funk rather than feeling funky.

I don’t remember when I was handed this handbill for a show at the Palladium in Los Angeles, but I’m guessing late eighties.  I saw quite a few shows there, so I assume that somebody jammed this in my hand while I was walking down Sunset and I stuck it in my pocket and forgot about it.

All I know is that I didn’t get to the show.  I am an idiot.

  1. Very cool, finding forgotten treasure! Not getting to do that very often is the worst part of being a fierce thrower outer.
