Will this become a Why It Matters tradition? Probably not, but last year’s obligatory Christmas playlist overlooked the strange obsession that the glam rockers had with the holiday. I don’t pretend to understand it, I just report it.
So here you go: a glam rock Christmas. Watch out for Krampus, or at the very least Jimmy Saville and Gary Glitter:
“Thank God It’s Not Christmas,” Sparks
“Christmas Bop,” T. Rex
“Another Rock ‘n Roll Christmas,” Gary Glitter
“Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who’d be a Turkey at Christmas),” Elton John
“I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday,” Wizzard
“Merry Christmas Everybody,” Slade
“Lonely This Christmas,” Mud
“The Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth,” David Bowie and Bing Crosby
“White Christmas,” Iggy Pop
Only twelve months to work on my next Christmas playlist. What to do, what to do….
