What we have here is an outstanding bootleg from a January 1987 show at the University of Southern California.
Whenever you can get your hands on live recordings of “Kettle Whistle” and “1%” do it. Of the early Jane’s material I’ve never understood why these two faded into “deep cut” status, the former showing the band at their spooky best and the latter rocking as hard as any cut on the first three albums.
There are a few different version of this bootleg; unfortunately, I own the most common one. That’s the bad news. The good news is that this edition has the coolest cover, so take that, super collectors!
Expect to bring 25 dollars up from the catacombs if you want to take this one home for a spin. Happy hunting.
