Kicking around Westwood on Saturdays was a weird little adventure, but that’s what Saturdays are for. Whether you’re a kid or an adult, Saturdays are the only free day on the board. Sure, Sundays technically count as the weekend, but Monday looms like a hurricane on the horizon. Nope, Saturday is it.
So of course countless songs have been written about Saturday. It’s all right for fighting, it’s another one and I ain’t got nobody, it’s that one I spent in the park (I think it was the fourth of July).
So what Saturday songs are on my playlist? Here we go:
“Saturday Gigs,” Mott the Hoople
“Saturday Morning,” Eels
“10:15 Saturday Night,” The Cure
“Saturday’s Asylum,” The Rain Parade
“Saturday Night Rub,” Dave and Phil Alvin
“Book of Saturday,” King Crimson
“The Ghosts of Saturday Night,” Tom Waits
“Drive-In Saturday,” David Bowie
Categories: Deep Cuts

“Almost Saturday Night” – John Fogerty
