On Diffuser: 32 Years Ago – Big Country Release ‘The Crossing’

When you hear “In a Big Country” you think, “Hooray, I’m at the dentist.” That’s not fair: You might think, “Hooray, I’m at the grocery store.”

But when that cut dropped back in ’83 it was jaw dripping. Bagpipe guitars? What the heck?

Writing up the anniversary of The Crossing was an eye opener. I had no idea that Big Country intersected with some of the biggest names in classic rock — pure legends, actually.
