On Diffuser: 29 Years Ago: R.E.M. Release ‘Lifes Rich Pageant’

Lifes Rich Pageant R.E.M.’s fourth album might be my favorite.

I remember exactly where I was the first time I saw it — home from school for the summer, working on my cruddy car in my parent’s driveway. Lee G. rolled up and jumped out with the enthusiasm of Navin Johnson holding the new phone book. My first thought when I saw the album was, “Why the heck is there a ventriloquist dummy on the cover?”

Anyway, it’s a great album and it’s celebrating a birthday today. Read all about it on Diffuser.

  1. This is the first one I remember buying on the day it came out. Fables is my favorite, as I’ve mentioned before, but I’ve got a real soft spot for this album. Where do you think I got my domain name from? 😉
