I’d never heard Death From Above 1979 prior to Aftershock, and that was my loss.
I wasn’t alone. The crowd was genuinely confused about who these guys were and how they ended up on the main stage. The drum riser was pushed to the front of the stage like they were an opening band, but we were way too deep into the day for an opener.
And then these two guys walk out on stage, one of whom was wearing a goofy hat, and proceeded to tear shit up. I haven’t heard a duo make this much noise since the Flat Duo Jets, and never a duo with just a bass player and a drummer. Color me a fan — just don’t make me wear that hat.
