Here’s one from the golden era of bootlegs. Classic rock would likely sound very different if not for the Yardbirds. The list of “begats” spawned from the band is much bigger than Trump’s comically tiny hands, the best known being the holy trinity of ’60s Brit guitarists: Beck, Page, and Clapton.
This particular boot compiles tracks both from the Yardbirds and the Jeff Beck Group, which begat Rod Stewart. Of particular interest is “Stroll On,” which features both Beck and Page:
Can you find the tracks on Yardbirds On Down elsewhere? Sure, but that isn’t what collecting is all about, so stick 25 bucks in your pocket, hit your local record stores, and hope for the best. Happy hunting.
