This week’s “Deep Cuts” is a rarity: a request.
A friend of mine put out a call for “songs about babies.”
“Babies or crybabies?” I asked. He left it up to me, but noted that “crybabies” might be a bit too restrictive.
I love a challenge, though, so I dug into my electronic stacks to see what I could turn up. I bet I have some great songs on the topic on vinyl, CD, cassette, or 8-track, but it’s so much work to dig through those stacks. Waaa, listen to me–what a crybaby!
Let’s get to the tunes:
“I’d Cry Like A Baby,” Dean Martin.
“Cry Like A Baby,” The Box Tops.
“Cry Baby Cry,” The Beatles.
“Cry Baby,” Garnett Mimms and the Enchanters.
“Baby Baby Don’t Cry,” Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
“I’m Not Crying,” Flight of the Conchords.
“The Crying Clown,” Peter Frampton.
“Big Girls Don’t Cry,” The Four Seasons.
There you have it: Eight songs to suck your thumbs by. What did I miss, you crybabies? I’m listening.
