Deep Cuts: Songs For Exploring the Mind

A mind might be a terrible thing to waste, but is it worth exploring? Sure, we need that ugly lump bumping around inside of our pretty noggins in order to do important things like pose for selfies and pretend we’re outraged about stuff on social media, but what about really getting in there and examining one’s deepest thoughts? I’ve known an awful lot of happy dullards, after all. Maybe they have the right idea. Then again, I’ve known an awful lot of happy meditators, too.

I don’t have the answer, but I do have a playlist for the journey to the center of your mind should you choose to take that particular trip. Ready? Here we go:

“Is It In My Head?” The Who.

“Am I Going Insane?” Black Sabbath.

“My Mind Is Gone,” ZZ Top.

“Monkey Mind,” Mitchell Froom.

“It’s All In Your Mind,” Soul Angels.

“All In Your Mind,” Stray.

“Insanity Rains,” Satellite Party.

“Meditations,” Felius Andromeda.

There you have it: Eight songs by which to free your head. What did I miss? I’m listening.
