Some kids are obsessed with heavy machinery: bulldozers, tractors, cranes, dump trucks–they just can’t get enough of them.
I had a few Tonka trucks when I was a kid, and while I got a lot of use out of them I don’t remember them being my go-to toys. I was more of an Evel Knievel man myself. My Tonkas probably got jumped by Evel’s stunt cycle more often than they hauled dirt.
Anyway, songs about heavy machinery:
“Slaves and Bulldozers,” Soundgarden.
“They’ll Need A Crane,” They Might Be Giants.
“Big Green and Yeller,” Seasick Steve.
“Gravel Truck,” Let’s Active.
“Struck By A Wrecking Ball,” Nekromantix.
“Steamroller,” James Taylor.
“Harvester Of Sorrow,” Metallica.
“Piledriver Waltz,” Arctic Monkeys.
There you have it: Eight songs about heavy machinery. What did I miss? I’m listening.
