I don’t think there’s much I can say about emotions. When they’re good they’re good, and when they’re bad they’re bad. That about sums it up.
But they’re great fodder for songs. Our emotions are in motoion, you make me want to cry, Johnny gets angry, Johnny gets mad. Love will makes us do right, love will make us do wrong. Who’s going to teach me peace and happiness? Mama, oo-oooo-ooo, didn’t mean to make you cry.
I guess the better playlist challenge would be songs without emotions, but that idea doesn’t do much for me so here are some tracks that specifically call out the word “emotion:”
“One Emotion,” The Clash.
“Young Emotions,” Ricky Nelson.
“Emotional Traffic,” The Rumour.
“Broadcast Emotion,” Helmet.
“Pointless Emotion,” Antifreeze.
“Emotion No. 13,” Suicidal Tendencies.
“Emotions,” Samantha Sang with the Bee Gees.
“Emotions In Motion,” Billy Squier.
There you have it: Eight songs by which to move while you’re moved. What did I miss? I’m listening.
