Deep Cuts: Songs For Choices

Everything involves choice: What to eat, how much to eat, spicy, mild, white rice, brown rice, jasmine rice. I must be hungry.

Choices often seem binary–this not that, yes not no–but the outcomes are far from that. Once we make a choice we set off a chain of events that may or may not have been directly caused by that event. We’ll never know, because that choice will always raise doubt about what is, what was, and what could have been.

So why sweat it? Just pick a pill, sit back, and listen to some songs about choice:

“Born To Choose,” The Mekons.

“I Choose,” The Offspring.

“Dancing Choose,” TV On The Radio.

“Got To Choose,” KISS.

“People’s Choice,” Buckwheat Zydeco.

“Too Much Choice,” Love and Rockets.

“Freedom Of Choice,” Devo.

“No Choice,” Faith.

There you have it: Eight choice songs to choose from. What did I miss? I’m listening.
