From the Stacks

From The Stacks: Wild Man Fischer, ‘Wildmania’

If you’re a Rhino Records or Zappa fan, here’s one that you need in your stacks.

Wildmania isn’t Fischer’s first album (that would be 1968’s Zappa-produced An Evening With Wild Man Fischer), but that’s not to say that it isn’t a first. Just as Fischer recorded Rhino’s very first single, Wildmania was the fledgling label’s very first album. This is where it all begins: RNLP-001.

Is it a good album? If you love outsider music it’s a great album, and if you don’t–well, it’s Rhino’s first album! Either way, you can’t go wrong.

You can expect to pay in the 5-10 dollar range for this one, which is pretty crazy given its relatively low production and its historical significance. Happy hunting.
