Deep Cuts

Deep Cuts: Songs For the Heat

Summer’s here and the time is right to be bitchin’ ’bout the heat. Well, maybe not for you, but certainly for me. I’m a delicate little flower. I wilt in the heat. Give me spring any day over the blast furnace summer. I’ll even take autumn, or a moderate winter. Oppressive summer heat is for lizards and suckers.

Anyway, songs for the heat:

“Hot Town,” Fess Williams and his Royal Flush Orchestra.

“Hotter and Hotter,” Rollins Band.

“Hotter Then ‘Ell,” Fletcher Henderson.

“Houston Is Hot Tonight,” Iggy Pop.

“It’s Hot Tonight,” Alice Cooper.

“Long Hot Summer Night,” Jimi Hendrix.

“Too Hot,” The Kinks.

“You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night),” Meat Loaf.

There you have it: Eight songs for when you’re too hot, too hot lady. What did I miss? I’m listening.
