Happy Louie Dusseault is no joke in the polka world. The man is a Grammy nominee, a Polka Hall of Fame inductee, and the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the United States Polka Association.
Along with his wife, Julcia, the Happy Louie and Julcia Orchestra released a slew of albums from 1969 through 2007. Most of these were released on their own record label, Ha-Lo records.
I think it’s fair to assume that those are Louie’s and Julcia’s kids posing with them on the cover of 1971’s The Happy Louie and Julcia Family Album, which suggests that at least for some period of time music was a family affair. How cool is that, making happy music with the people you love? It doesn’t get much better than that.
Unfortunately, it also doesn’t get much worse than that album cover, so while I have nothing but love for Happy Louie and his family I reluctantly must induct Family Album into the Bad Album Cover Hall of Fame. Take us out with some good time music, Louie!
