Autumn is almost here: Time to get in one more summer cold before the holiday flu season. I realized recently that when I’m home sick I gravitate toward the things that identified a sick day during my school years: bad TV, books I’ve read a million times, soup, and bathtubs. As far as I know the medicinal value of any of these items has not been proven, but they make me feel better.
Music always feels pretty good, too. Maybe next time I’m sick I’ll turn off The Price Is Right and turn up the following playlist:
“Touch Me I’m Sick,” Mudhoney.
“Too Sick To Pray,” Phosphorescent.
“Slow Motion Sickness,” Dave Navarro.
“Sickness,” Iggy Pop.
“Sick, Sober, and Sorry,” Lefty Frizzell.
“Sick Man of Europe,” Cheap Trick.
“Sick As A Dog,” Aerosmith.
“Poor Old Heartsick Me,” The Knitters.
There you have it: Eight songs to soothe your rocking pneumonia. What did I miss? I’m listening.
“Sick Things” – Alice Cooper
“Don’t Let Us Get Sick” – Warren Zevon
‘”Bad Case of Loving You” – Robert Palmer
“Sick and Tired” – Waylon Jennings
“You Sound Like You’re Sick” – Ramones
“I Wanna Be Well” – Ramones
“Love Sick” – Bob Dylan
“Sick Again” – Led Zeppelin
“Sick of Being Sick” – The Damned
“Sick of You” – Cake
