Choice is perhaps the most essential component of human life. The little critters living in your eyebrows can’t choose to move to your mustache, after all–their entire lives are predefined. But we choose everything: where we live, how we live, what we do, when we do it. Granted, often it feels like someone else is choosing for us, but those obligations are byproducts of choices we made. Don’t like getting up at 3 in the morning to get to your job? Choose another job. Don’t like those cold winters? Choose another home.
I know it’s not that easy, but it’s possible. It’s your choice. The only time it isn’t is when we concede our power to choose. For example: Did you know that you don’t have to be driven to rage and depression by social media and cable news? You can choose to be happier just by turning that crud off.
