Christmas music. Love it or hate it, there’s no avoiding it.
There’s so much Christmas music out there, yet we stick to the same ten songs: “Jingle Bells,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Frosty the Snowman”–you know the list. Why not mix it up a little?
If you’re long on Christmas spirit but short on patience for playing “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” at this year’s party, try some of the cuts below. Still not finding anything you like? Here are some previous Christmas “Deep Cuts” editions for you:
- 2011: Deep Cuts: The Obligatory Christmas Playlist
- 2012: Deep Cuts: A Glam Rock Christmas
- 2013: (No List)
- 2014: Deep Cuts: Your Obligatory Christmas Playlist
- 2015: Deep Cuts: The Obligatory Christmas List
Anway, here we go: 2016’s obligatory Christmas playlist:
“Space Christmas,” Shonen Knife.
“Christmas In Suburbia,” Martin Newell.
“Countdown To Christmas Party Time,” XTC.
“Christmas,” Dillon Smith.
“Another Christmas Song,” Jethro Tull.
“Red Water (Christmas Mourning),” Type O Negative.
“Christmas In Jail,” Leroy Carr.
“Christmas Spirit,” Paul Revere and the Raiders.
This is the part where I usually ask what I missed, but I think this time I’ll just wish you the best. You’re pretty swell, and I hope there’s a shiny new bike waiting for you under the tree.
Aww! I think you’re pretty swell too.
